In Genesis chapter 1, we read that every thing God made was very good. In Genesis 1:29, God said that he had given humankind every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; for you it shall be for meat (food).

In simple words, God gave us all the food and nutrition we and animals needed to survive and flourish.

That also meant medicines. Have you ever thought that every medicine ever invented was made of something that God had already created? That’s why it doesn’t bother me to take medicines. They are just one of many avenues God uses to bring about healing. I believe in divine healing: a miraculous healing where God spoke the word only and someone is healed. The Bible has many such stories. Also there are many contemporary stories of divine healings. Of course, God also uses medical doctors, science and other agents of healing. I thank God every day for doctors, nurses, etc., in the healing professions. They gifts from God. My late son, Spencer, Jr., was a medical doctor. My daughter, Rachel, is an R.N. My granddaughter, Paige, is nearly through medical school. They all consider their professions a divine calling and gift from God.

There are many sources of healing when one is sick. Sometimes there are actions we can take ourselves to bring about healing. Perhaps you’ve read my post about my weight problem; I was a full 100 pounds overweight. Three different doctors told me I had to lose weight or I was going to die. They said the medicines they were prescribing for my other problems would not work at full capacity unless I got my excess weight off.

Many people have written and called me asking how I lost all the weight. I wish I could say it was just pure willpower and discipline. But I had tried that before and it didn’t work. I had to do something different this time. I knew I had to cut back on the amount of food I ate and the kinds of food I ate.

I am writing notes now for an ebook that will tell in detail everything I did to lose 100 pounds. But since I’ve gotten so many requests for a peek preview of the ebook, I thought I would tell a few details.

First, I realized if I quit eating a lot of food, that I needed something to make up for all those vitamins and minerals I would not be getting from food sources. For example, I quit eating all red meats. I eat some chicken, skinless breasts, but not much of that. Then I eat salmon and a few other healthy fish. Actually, I’ve practically become a vegetarian, so I needed to start taking vitamin B-12, since you can not get that from vegetables.

How did I know what vitamins, minerals and other supplements to take? Lots of study and research. I’m an avid reader of books, and other printed materials, and I thank God for the internet. I will be sharing with you which books I’ve read that were very helpful, and which ones not to waste your time reading.

I consider this a ministry of helping you to learn how to lose weight and become healthier. And you’ll look better and feel better. When the ebook is written, it will be a free download.

Now, I want to close with this admonition. Though you will have a lot of knowledge about how to lose weight, it won’t be easy. This is the main secret of MY weight loss: ask God to help you lose the weight, to show you the importance of losing the weight, and to help you not to suffer over being hungry. And I promise you this, You WILL lose weight and God WILL help you.

God Bless You,
Spencer Plumley
